our art topic this term has been street art. We looked at perspective and scaling up. We couldn’t decorate a wall around school as we might get into a little bit of trouble. But watch this space to see if you see our artwork around school soon.
Look at the lovely clay elephant this little learner made today. Fantastic details on the creation with tusks and a long trunk. He chose the colours and painted his sculpture by himself. Great work!

Art Club made some wonderful cards today. They made a stamper out of a plastic bag and it made the result look like roses.
Art Club made lovely Chinese dragons to celebrate Chinese New Year. They decorated them in feather and coloured paper.
In art we are painting and today we looked at different painting techniques. We looked at dabbing, washes and stippling. We also used our previous lessons learning about tints and shades to mix white or black.
Today we used our tint and shading techniques to learn different painting techniques we can use for our final piece. We practised stippling, washes and dabbing.
In Art, we have been looking at North American artists. We looked at an artist called John Singer Sargent and some of the work that he has produced. Then we had a go at painting in his style. There were some amazing pieces of art. Well done year 5!
This term in year 3, we have loved stepping back into time to explore pre historic art! We especially enjoyed creating our own paints using natural pigments such as spices . Our learning has been building up to creating our own ‘cave paintings’ using earthy textures and colours.
We have been developing our knowledge of different artist throughout our painting topic. We gather ideas and took inspiration from these artists. We these drew a sketch and use different types of media to create our final image.
Sunflower class have been looking for signs of spring. We spotted that the daffodils had started to bloom. We took some inside and painted a picture of them, looking closely at the different parts, shapes an colours.
Today we completed our art unit which was all focused on painting using tints and shades. As this was our final lesson we had used items from the classroom to create a still life composition. Once we had sketched it we began considering the tints and shades before mixing colours to paint our images.
After reading the story The Three Little Pigs, Sunflower class used different resources to create our own houses. The children had to work collaboratively to create the shared pieces. They decided what was the best way to add the materials and how to apply them.
In Year 2, we have been making clay structures using some gluing techniques. We also shaped and made imprints onto our little structures.
One of our little learners in Year 2 created this beautiful African watering hole. It was full of animals all wanting a drink. He talked about having trees and branches to make it even better.
Sunflower class have read The Enormous Turnip this week. On Thursday, we had a delivery. A turnip and other root vegetables from the farmer. We decided to make some soup. The children enjoyed chopping, peeling and preparing the vegetables. Everyone enjoyed tasting the delicious soup.
Our art topic is about looking at fabric design and taking inspiration from it. In this lesson we learnt about the Batik technique and have previously used PVA glue to create a patter. Then today we have used fabric paint to add colour around the glue.
Today, Nursery took their learning outside to explore weather firsthand. We compared the different sized puddkes that have formed in our outdoor area and used powder paint to explore mixing primary colours with the rain!🌧🎨
