Today, we talked about the importance of staying safe with fireworks and bonfires. We talked about being with an adult and handing sparklers safely. We talked about STOP, DROP and ROLL if your clothes go on fire and about not running near a bonfire.
Today, we talked about the importance of brushing our teeth and keeping our gums healthy. We then demonstrated how to brush our teeth in circular movements.
Today, we went into the school garden to look for seeds that are among the plants and trees. We found lots of seeds in a very small area. Look what we found.
Today, Year 2 made lovely mirrors to remind them that everyone in class is a special child of God. They made each mirror to their unique style.
Today, Year 2 went into the school garden to look closely at items of creation, like trees, flowers and the sky. They were able to feel the trees and listen to the birds.
For Black History Month, we looked at the famous pilot Bessie Coleman. We completed a timeline about her life and achievements and then we drew lovely portraits of Bessie. Look at these wonderful drawings.
In Geography, we looked at different ways of travelling around Liverpool. We talked about whether these are cheap or expensive. We talked about where you could go on the different modes of transport. Some of talked about whether on not we have used these types of transport. We worked in pairs to complete our work.
Today, we set some rules for PSHE. These are so important when we come to discuss some topics in class. We use rules all the time in school and we know how to follow them well.
Today, we thought about what we already know about plants and seeds. Some of this learning is from Year 1 and their knowledge of trees. Some good prior knowledge!
Today, we looked at a picture from The Night Gardener by the Fan Brothers. We described it using adjectives. Some of the descriptions were amazing!
Today, we made tens and ones using base tens. We then tried to represent the numbers by drawing diagrams. We even challenged our friends with Guess the Number game.
Today, we were shown some clues about our new book. We were not sure what linked these objects. Some thought it might include a farmer, others thought it might be about a little boy or girl. I wonder what this book is?
What a lovely morning year 1 and 2 had today. We had lots of races and we raced in our planet teams against each other.
This morning, we had Mrs Cross from School Improvement Liverpool to talk with the children about kindness and how to be kind. We then wrote some idea about how to be kind to ourselves.
What a fantastic day we had today. We tried lots of food from Yemen, Sri Lanka, England, Venezuela and Kurdistan, it was all delicious! Then we looked in depth at Sri Lanka. We looked at the Elephant cloaks worn during festival times, we made prayer flags and we made our own flag.
Today, children in year 2 had to pretend to be a robot and another person had to give it instructions. They had to use forwards, backwards, left and right instructions. We had great fun outside.
Today in Year 2, the children have been learning that they need to swim only between the lifeguard flags at a beach. We learned about the correct position to float and how to call for help when needed.
Today, we looked at how to keep ourselves clean and healthy. We brushed some teeth, took some excerise and washed our hands. We looked at how germs spread and how sleep is important to our bodies.
What a warm day it was! Year 2 had a great morning we had having a laugh and getting a lot cooler.
Today, Year 2 had some fun with time. We worked with partners to solve games and we revised over all of our time knowledge.
What a fantastic day out Year 2 had a Martin Mere! We saw all types of ducks, even ducks with purple heads. Despite the heat, a very enjoyable day was had by all. We had some tired children on the journey back too.
Games club members had a lovely day trying to win at Jenga, Snakes and Ladders and the OK game. We love working as pairs and teams. We like chatting to each other and trying to work out their opponent’s next move!
As we come to near the summer holidays, Year 2 have been listening to and discussing how to be safe near water. We talked about the bath, rivers, swimming pools and the sea. We talked about the emergency number that needs to be called, 999 in the UK.
Today, we have been looking at the story of Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty. We looked at some of the illustrations and describe what we could see in them.
Today, we did a little bit of revision of Year 1 lessons and we made o’clock and half past on the little classroom clocks. Half past was a little tricky but at the end of the lesson we were able to recognise where the hour hand should be.
Today, Year 2 worked in groups to crest a short composition using the glockenspiels. They really enjoyed being independent in their creations.
One of our little learners in Year 2 created this beautiful African watering hole. It was full of animals all wanting a drink. He talked about having trees and branches to make it even better.
Today, year 2 were practically trying to find 3/4 of an amount. They used a part-whole model to find the correct amount and we enjoyed working with our partners.
In Year 2, we have been making clay structures using some gluing techniques. We also shaped and made imprints onto our little structures.
Today, year 2 had a lovely morning celebrating St George’s Day in St George’s Hall in the city centre. We had a story telling session about St George and the Dragon. afterwards we listened to a beautiful Organ Recital. This is the third biggest Organ in the UK with some of the pipes over 9 metres tall!
Today, we role played the story of The King Who Banned the Dark. We acted out each page and explained how the people might have felt.
Today, we had our annual Easter Bonnet Parade. The children made bonnets and showed off some awesome dance moves while parading for the judges. Well done everyone, you all looked amazing.
Today, we have been looking at the death and burial of Jesus. We had some tomb garden scenes to show that Jesus is risen from the dead.
One little learner had so much fun making some chocolate cakes today. He added the ingredients, stirred it all, decorated them and sampled a few too! Well done, they smelled amazing!
Today in Year 2, we talked about how many lifeboats were on the Titanic. We discussed how to designers thought that it was unsinkable and lifeboats were not needed for everyone on board. We looked at how many people were in each lifeboat and the capacity it should have held. We then looked at how many people lost their lives on the Titanic.
Year 2 had a lovely World Book Day. We got all dressed up and we read our favourite stories. We read 2 other books today, The Gruffalo and The Day the Crayons Quit. Don’t they all look amazing!
This morning, we had a lovely session listening to the book Goldilocs by Ella McLeod. Then we watched as the illustration was demonstrated by Rochelle Falconer, where we followed her instructions to draw our own bear.
Today, Year 2 listened to the story of the paralysed man. Afterwards we acted out the story and we were able to retell it really well.
Today, the whole school had a fabulous opportunity to listen to a special concert by the local ukulele group called the Dingle Ukes. They played folk songs, older pop songs and locally written songs. The children had a fantastic time listening, clapping and singing along with the music. Thank you to Wheel Meet Again group and Dingle Ukes for coming along.
Year 2 have been discussing who their trusted adult is that they could turn to when talking things over. We then made a list of 5 trusted adults on a palm template which they can keep.
Art Club made lovely Chinese dragons to celebrate Chinese New Year. They decorated them in feather and coloured paper.
Year 2 had a lovely Number Day. We did some 2 times tables activities and we all dressed up in numbers to raise money for NSPCC. We then designed a Maths T Shirt.
Year 2 really enjoyed listening to the story of Nefertiti today. They were making different sounds for being nervous and being scared. We also did some singing too.
Year 2 today were making groups using counters. They are getting ready to multiply and divide. They absolutely smashed it today! Well done Year 2.
Art Club made some wonderful cards today. They made a stamper out of a plastic bag and it made the result look like roses.
Look at the lovely clay elephant this little learner made today. Fantastic details on the creation with tusks and a long trunk. He chose the colours and painted his sculpture by himself. Great work!
In music we have been studying some British traditional songs. Today we were listening to ‘The Lark Ascending’ by Ralph Vaughan Williams. We listened to hear the birds and the crashing waves and other aspects of the piece of music was discussed. We really enjoyed listening to the music.

Today in Year 2, we were beginning to create a simple game using programming on Scratch. We were able to change the background, the sprite and make it move.
Today in Year 2, we played a game using coins with a partner. One partner had to tell the other what the value of the coin was and how they could make this value using other coins, for example, 10p could be made using 5 2pences.
Look at the lovely craft work that Year 2 produce to tell the story of the visit to the baby Jesus of the Magi. We also had a lovely Epiphany service in school too.
Today, Year 2 were learning to sing some songs from around the UK. They were singing Lavender Blue, London Bridge is falling down and My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean. We then played the game of London Bridge while singing the song.
What a lovely way to end the term. We had lots of games and loads of food and so much fun! Thanks to everyone who passed on gifts and wished us a Merry Christmas. See you all back on the 5th January. Happy Christmas and every blessing for 2026.
Phase 2, Year 1,2 and 3 had a fantastic Nativity play today. Great singing, wonderful acting and lovely narrating. Well done everyone!
Year 2 drew some fantastic artwork of the angel Gabriel announcing the birth of Jesus.
This afternoon, the children in Poppy class, who had over 97% attendance, got to throw snowballs at poor Father Christmas, I think he needs to have a good rest tonight!
What a lovely surprise we got today when Father Christmas came to our class! He showed us on a map where he lived, we got our photos taken with him, we sang to him about his favourite reindeer Rudolph and he gave us lovely gifts.
This afternoon we had a visit from Coverdale puppets and they performed their Christmas show called ‘Angel delight’. We found it funny and enjoyed seeing all the different puppets. We even had a little boogie to some fun music and songs throughout.
Today Poppy Class discussed about what good hygiene is. We conducted an experiment. We covered our hands with fake germs and then touched different surfaces in class. We were then able to see how these germs can be transported throughout the whole school very easily. We used a light to shine to see the germs clearly. We then quickly washed our hands and then watched if all the germs had disappeared or not.

Today Year 1 and 2 came together to hear Father Silviu speaking about Advent. He spoke about the meaning of the Advent candles and the children asked lots of questions.
What a lovely afternoon we had with Year 2 and Year 4 singing club today. We went to Tesco and sang really well. There were lots of people to see us and we raised money for school as well.
Today in PE, year 2 had to listen to music and learn to move to to it like safari animals. They needed to crawl like lions etc. They came up with some of the their own ideas. Well done.
This week is UK parliament week and today we watched a short video about how parliament works. We discussed about how laws are made and the process before it gets passed. We then took a virtual tour of Westminster and coloured some diagrams of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
Today we had a painting session in Art and Craft Club. We were painting autumn and winter scenes on a notebook, which the children can give as a gift to someone. The children really enjoyed painting with cotton buds to create leaves!
Today, we talked about how to be safe while crossing the road. We discussed about Stop, Look and Listen.
Year 2 have a loved learning about Christopher Columbus this half term. Today, we looked at the impact that Columbus made on the spread of religion, the improvements of shipping and the trading of foods. We were able to work in pairs to recall our facts.
Today, we discussed about how to be an upstander -someone who does not tolerate bullying. We then designed an Anti-bullying superhero! Look at their lovely designs.
Today, we had a lovely visit from Buddy and a lady from NSPCC. We discussed how we can speak up if something is wrong and who are the safe adults to talk to.
Today we launched Anti-bullying week by participating in odd sock day. We attended an assembly and Miss Summers introduced our theme for this year’s anti-bullying week, which is ‘Power for good’. Then we had fun learning the Andy and the Odd socks song called ‘Power for good’.
Today, we were demonstrating how we can add 2 two digit numbers using various methods, like column and using pictorial representation. Everyone really enjoyed doing this today and absolutely smashed it!
Someone in our class decided to dress up as the Night Gardener. I wonder who it is? He did a great job sneaking around without anyone seeing him cutting the trees!
Today, we created a collage showing how each one of us is unique and that God loves us all. We learned how God made us all different and we each have varied personalities.
Today, we had a lovely time in our school garden, looking at the vibrant features of God’s creation and His beautiful creatures which he made. We looked at the fish and their stripes, we looked at the delicate features on leaves and we talked about how each plant is so unique.
Today, we used drama to act out the various stages of Baptism. We had godparents, water, a priest and a congregation.
The children were able to retell the various aspects of a baptism ceremony.
Today, we were making two digit numbers and discovering how many tens and how many ones were in each number. We were able to make these using base ten.
Today, we used drama to retell the story of The Night Gardener. Some of us were trees, another person was William and some of us were people from Grimlock Lane. This will help us write lovely story setting descriptions.
Today we had a fantastic street party at lunch time. We made some VE Day crowns and we flew our paper Spitfires.
This week we had a ‘no pen’ day, we still completed all our lessons and had some fun along the way! We learned about telling the time, about the Stone Age and we planted some pea seeds.
Today, we had an Easter assembly, an Easter Bonnet parade and an Easter Concert! Wow, what a busy day, but we had lots of fun!
