Reading milkshakes in Year 6

Year 6 have been challenged with reading a certain about of pages each week in their guided read and reading for pleasure books. If they achieve that total they will either received a milkshake or free time. If they read with their Parents/Carers, they also receive a biscuit. Here are our first winners.

During their lunchtime club today the school librarians have begun to create bookmarks. The idea behind this is to have bookmarks for children to take and use while using the library. Take a look at some of the ones we have competed below.

This week our focus book has been Supertato. The Evil Pea has escaped in Sunflower class, he stole our number 3! The children have made traps, investigated and tried to capture the Evil Pea.

Year 2 really enjoyed listening to the story of Nefertiti today. They were making different sounds for being nervous and being scared. We also did some singing too.

We returned to class today to discover an abandoned suitcase. We asked lots of questions and were extremely intrigued by the contents of the suitcase. We began to make predictions to who it might belong to and what this terms texts could be about.

Today year 4 took part in the live lesson ran by the British Library. We had the pleasure of listening to Michael Rosen. Tell us wonderful food stories while an illustrator drew live images to match each part.

This morning, we had a lovely session listening to the book Goldilocs by Ella McLeod. Then we watched as the illustration was demonstrated by Rochelle Falconer, where we followed her instructions to draw our own bear.

04.03.26- Reading- World Book Day

To celebrate World Book Day, we have watched a video by the British Library. We listened to Michael Rosen read a story around food, whilst an illustrator drew some images alongside it. As we were listening, we had a go at drawing our own illustrations based on food. What a wonderful lesson we had!

This afternoon year 1 took part in a great author event to help celebrate our love of reading. We listened to the story ‘Once upon a remix: Meet Goldilocs’, a fairytale with a twist by author Ella McLeod and learnt how to draw a bear with illustrator Rochelle Falconer.

23.04.26 – St George’s Day Celebration

Today, year 2 had a lovely morning celebrating St George’s Day in St George’s Hall in the city centre. We had a story telling session about St George and the Dragon. afterwards we listened to a beautiful Organ Recital. This is the third biggest Organ in the UK with some of the pipes over 9 metres tall!
