Year 3 – Tulip

10.06.26 – No Pen Day

Today was No Pen Day, with a focus on developing oracy skills and deepening understanding through discussion, collaboration and practical activities. The children continued exploring our topic of time, learning about a.m. and p.m.and how we use them in everyday life. We also began our exciting new history topic on Alexander the Great, where the children worked together to create their own phalanxes, helping them understand the strategies used by his army. In Computing, the children completed their rainforest voice-over projects, confidently recording and editing narration to accompany their work. It was fantastic to see such enthusiastic participation, teamwork and thoughtful communication throughout the day.

03.06.2026 – Geography – Agriculture

What a fantastic day we had at Water Lane Farm as part of our Agriculture Unit!

The children thoroughly enjoyed extending and embedding their prior learning through a range of hands-on experiences. We watched a fascinating sheep shearing demonstration and an impressive sheepdog show, and some of us were even lucky enough to pet a sheep. We also met the pigs and learned more about how animals are cared for on the farm.

As we explored the farm, we looked at different types of machinery and discussed the important role they play in modern farming. The children also had the opportunity to plant sunflower and pumpkin seeds, helping them understand the journey from seed to harvest.

One of the highlights of the day was making our own flatbread, linking our learning about agriculture and food production from field to fork.

It was a fantastic day that brought our classroom learning to life and helped to embed our understanding of agriculture in a fun, memorable, and engaging way. We are incredibly proud of how well the children represented our school throughout the visit.

18.05.26 – Computing – Coding with languages

In club today we have further developed our coding skills to use text to speech blocks and translating languages. We created sprites and then asked them to speak and translated it into a different language.

20.04.26 – Maths – TTRS Showdown Winners!

Today the top three winners in each class from year 3 to year 6 had their prize. These children were the ones who scored the most points at home when practising their times tables. They had juice and biscuits in the library and the out to have an extra break time with equipment.

16.04.26 – DT- Sewing- Cushions

Year 3 have been developing their sewing skills by making their own cushions. They have practised the running stitch to join fabric pieces together and developed their control and accuracy with a needle and thread. The children have also explored appliqué techniques and attached decorative fabric shapes to personalise their cushions. They were all so proud to share their final product with you.

12.03.2026 – Trip – Martin Mere

Tulip class had a fantastic day at Martin Mere taking part in the Generation Wild project. The children became Guardians of Nature, completing a range of challenges to learn how to care for the natural world.

Afterwards, we enjoyed exploring the beautiful nature reserve and spotting wildlife. It was such a lovely day of outdoor learning and adventure!

06.03.2026 – DT – Textiles

This term in class, we are exploring Textiles as part of our DT unit. Today the children began developing their basic sewing skills. They practised cross stitch and running stitch. The children also started experimenting with appliqué, where they cut out small fabric shapes and attach them onto another. A fantastic way to end this week’s learning! Happy weekend everyone!

05.03.2026 – Reading – World Book Day 2026

We’ve had a wonderful morning celebrating the joy of reading. The children spent time decorating their own bookmarks and discussing their favourite books. We finished the morning with some relaxing reading for pleasure time – a perfect way to enjoy the magic of books! 📚

24.02.26 – Music – Ukulele Concert

Today, the whole school had a fabulous opportunity to listen to a special concert by the local ukulele group called the Dingle Ukes. They played folk songs, older pop songs and locally written songs. The children had a fantastic time listening, clapping and singing along with the music. Thank you to Wheel Meet Again group and Dingle Ukes for coming along.

13.02.2026 – Art – Historic art

This term in year 3, we have loved stepping back into time to explore pre historic art! We especially enjoyed creating our own paints using natural pigments such as spices . Our learning has been building up to creating our own ‘cave paintings’ using earthy textures and colours.

06.02.2026 – NSPCC Number Day

For Number Day, Year 3 took part in a range of fun and engaging maths activities. Linking our main activity to current learning, the children explored perimeter by designing their very own dream houses!
We also learned about the important work of the NSPCC and how it helps to keep children safe. It was a fantastic day filled with learning, creativity and meaningful discussions!

14.01.2026 – Science – Exploring transparent, translucent and opaque materials

Today in Tulip class, we explored a range of different materials around our classroom and decided if they were transparent, translucent or opaque materials.

17.12.25 – Music – Cornet concert

Year 3, 4 and 5 had a fantastic cornet concert getting everybody into the festive spirit. The children have worked hard across the autumn term to improve their music skills and be ready for this performance. Singing was great , the audience participated and there was excellent cornet playing. Wow, well done everyone.

18.12.25 – RE – Nativity Play

Phase 2, Year 1,2 and 3 had a fantastic Nativity play today. Great singing, wonderful acting and lovely narrating. Well done everyone!

12.12.25 – Guitar Club Concert

This afternoon we were treated to a lovely guitar performance by our children in guitar club. It was an excellent performance. Well done to all involved.

11.12.25 – Father Christmas Visit 🎅

Year 3 were so excited today to have a special visit from Father Christmas. We even had the opportunity to have a sing and dance with him too! As expected everybody in year 3 is on the good list!

10.12.25 – Coverdale Puppets

This afternoon we had a visit from Coverdale puppets and they performed their Christmas show called ‘Angel delight’. We found it funny and enjoyed seeing all the different puppets. We even had a little boogie to some fun music and songs throughout.

09.12.25 – Singing Club – Mersey Parks Residential Home visit.

Years 3 and 5 singing club had a great afternoon singing at Merseybeat Parks, we sang at 4 different sites to 4 different groups of people. It really got everyone in the Christmas spirit with all the carols and Christmas songs, some of residents were joining in too.

08.12.25 – Singing Club – Alfred Stocks Residential Home

What a lovely afternoon singing club had at Alfred Stocks. Singing Club members of Year 1, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 all came along. We sang our hearts out, we had carols, songs and actions. Some of the residents could not believe how professional we sounded! All the children got lovely treats afterwards, thanks you Alfred Stocks!

05.12.25 -RE- Father Silviu Visit

Today year 3 and 4 were visited by Farther Silviu to discuss the meaning of advent and how it is celebrated by Christians at this time of year. The children also asked their own questions about advent.

10.11.25 -RSHE- Odd Sock day

Today we launched Anti-bullying week by participating in odd sock day. We attended an assembly and Miss Summers introduced our theme for this year’s anti-bullying week, which is ‘Power for good’. Then we had fun learning the Andy and the Odd socks song called ‘Power for good’.

Science in year 4

Today, year 4 have moved in to a new science topic all about electricity. We started off looking at what electricity is and how static electricity is created. Then we investigated how we can create it ourselves to pick up salt and pepper with a ruler. You can see the fun we had in the pictures and watch the video of how we created the static electricity!

This week we have been remembering Pope Francis and reminding ourselves of his mission and his legacy.

No Pen Day

This week Tulip class took part in no pen day, the children were very excited at the thought of not picking up a pen for the whole day! We took part in lots of practical activities and had excellent discussions to evidence our learning 😁
