159Today, we brought some of the images of Shackleton Journey to life through conscience alley and freeze frames.
We used illustrations from our class reader Shackleton Journey written by William Grill. We had a lot of fun adding our own conversations, thoughts and ideas to these images.
162In previous lessons, we looked at the story of the prodigal son and how his father showed unconditional love. We then brought the family to court through hot seating to determine who showed and conditional love and who didn’t and why.
573Someone in our class decided to dress up as the Night Gardener. I wonder who it is? He did a great job sneaking around without anyone seeing him cutting the trees!
639Another hot-seating activity, today we became Andrew when he was chosen by Jesus to become one of Jesus disciples. Drama helps us to understand the scriptures better.
547During our RE lesson, we learnt about Abraham and Sarah being blessed with a child. This is because Abraham showed great faith and trust in the Lord. Once they had listened to the scripture, we used freeze frames to retell the story. We focused on how Abraham and Sarah might of been feeling at this time. Year 5 created some lovely freeze frames to capture the key moments.
633In our club today, we have been focusing on developing a series of freeze frames based on a fairy tale. We spent time focusing on our facial expressions and body language. The children then used this to create some effective freeze frames. Well done everybody!
477During English today we were looking at writing in the report style for a newspaper. Before we completed the writing activity we worked in groups to act out and freeze in place to represent what was happening in the news report we had read.
577Phase 2, Year 1,2 and 3 had a fantastic Nativity play today. Great singing, wonderful acting and lovely narrating. Well done everyone!
575Sunflower class decided to create their own houses, just like the Three Little Pigs. Were their homes sturdy enough to withstand the Big Bad Wolf’s huff?
11We have loved drawing club this week, the book has inspired lots of lovely role play and retelling of the story. We have ordered size and built our own houses.
17Today, we role played the story of The King Who Banned the Dark. We acted out each page and explained how the people might have felt.
139Today, year 2 had a lovely morning celebrating St George’s Day in St George’s Hall in the city centre. We had a story telling session about St George and the Dragon. afterwards we listened to a beautiful Organ Recital. This is the third biggest Organ in the UK with some of the pipes over 9 metres tall!
145To celebrate St George’s Day, we visited St George’s Hall to watch a performance of the legend and hear the fantastic organ being played.
