Learning about the NSPCC and using Real life maths.
We used our math’s skills to research the best value for in school and out of school treats for after SATs. We discussed the price of a coach, taking public transport or the possibility of being able to walk.
We now understand how expensive it actually is for 30 children to go out for the day.

Today, we brought some of the images of Shackleton Journey to life through conscience alley and freeze frames.
We used illustrations from our class reader Shackleton Journey written by William Grill. We had a lot of fun adding our own conversations, thoughts and ideas to these images.

Week 1 – Sharing the mercy of God with others
Today, we planned and lead our collective worship focusing on sharing Mercy with others. This week we have asked everyone to show compassion, empathy and kindness with other.
We reflected about what the world is like with mercy and what it could be like if we didn’t have mercy

Years 6 were lucky enough to be the first class that got to hold the chicks. They were really kind and thoughtful were handling them.
74No pen day in Rose Class
Year 6 loved their No pen day experience, with lots of practical and computer based activities. From creating our plans for English on our chrome books to using multi-link cubes in maths to explore volume. It is to be continued after SATs.
684Raising money for CAFOD in Rose class
During lent, Year 6 have been taking part in a guest the amount of Easter Chocolate in the jar. Our amount raised for CAFOD has yet to be counted up but I’m proud to reveal that our winner with a guess of 96 chocolates.

Athletics in Rose Class
During today’s PE lesson, we focused on technique, speed and stamina when running. We are now running on the balls of our feet, with high knees and pumping our arms.

Everyone came in nice and early and enjoyed some breakfast pastries and some chill time on their chrome books. SPAG and spelling completed. Well done everyone!

Welcome back to our new Year Six’s. Everyone is looking so smart in their new uniforms. It’s lovely too see everyone back.

Smashing place value in year six. Consolidating our learning using resources. Playing games has helped us learn. This game was to make a number closest to the target number.
47Voting for our Year 6 School councillors
Using our British Value of the democracy, we listened to the candidates and their proposals becoming our class representatives at school council meetings. Then we voted for our winners.

Ask us all about our learning. Each part represented the heart, blood vessels, values and cardiac muscles but which is which?
Reading milkshakes in Year 6
Year 6 have been challenged with reading a certain about of pages each week in their guided read and reading for pleasure books. If they achieve that total they will either received a milkshake or free time. If they read with their Parents/Carers, they also receive a biscuit. Here are our first winners.
35206.10.25 – Science – identifying the components of blood and their roles
During this lesson, we invested the components and their roles within the blood. Each group was faced with four patients – someone who was fighting an infection; someone who has a cut; someone who has been exercising and someone who is healthy.
Looking at the platelets, white blood cell, red bloods and plasma each group managed to work out who was who.
1206.10.25 – RE – Prodigal son – drama
In previous lessons, we looked at the story of the prodigal son and how his father showed unconditional love. We then brought the family to court through hot seating to determine who showed and conditional love and who didn’t and why.
2820.10.25 – RE – Being Called
Another hot-seating activity, today we became Andrew when he was chosen by Jesus to become one of Jesus disciples. Drama helps us to understand the scriptures better.
2607.11.25 – Art – Create street art with meaning
our art topic this term has been street art. We looked at perspective and scaling up. We couldn’t decorate a wall around school as we might get into a little bit of trouble. But watch this space to see if you see our artwork around school soon.
1510.11.25 -RSHE- Odd Sock day
Today we launched Anti-bullying week by participating in odd sock day. We attended an assembly and Miss Summers introduced our theme for this year’s anti-bullying week, which is ‘Power for good’. Then we had fun learning the Andy and the Odd socks song called ‘Power for good’.

The week before Remembrance Day we created this gorgeous poppy wreath that is unique and special to remember those who died for our freedom at war.
1112.11.25 – PSHE – NSPCC workshop
We had a workshop based on speaking out and staying safe with the help of Buddy the speech bubble. Year 6 learnt lots of ways that they can get support if they need it. It was a very useful and informative workshop and the children were all very engaged. They even got a sticker at the end for their hard work and involvement!
