11.12.25 – Attendance Reward – Poppy Class
This afternoon, the children in Poppy class, who had over 97% attendance, got to throw snowballs at poor Father Christmas, I think he needs to have a good rest tonight!

27What a lovely surprise we got today when Father Christmas came to our class! He showed us on a map where he lived, we got our photos taken with him, we sang to him about his favourite reindeer Rudolph and he gave us lovely gifts.
29This afternoon we had a visit from Coverdale puppets and they performed their Christmas show called ‘Angel delight’. We found it funny and enjoyed seeing all the different puppets. We even had a little boogie to some fun music and songs throughout.
38Today Poppy Class discussed about what good hygiene is. We conducted an experiment. We covered our hands with fake germs and then touched different surfaces in class. We were then able to see how these germs can be transported throughout the whole school very easily. We used a light to shine to see the germs clearly. We then quickly washed our hands and then watched if all the germs had disappeared or not.

69Today Year 1 and 2 came together to hear Father Silviu speaking about Advent. He spoke about the meaning of the Advent candles and the children asked lots of questions.
67What a lovely afternoon we had with Year 2 and Year 4 singing club today. We went to Tesco and sang really well. There were lots of people to see us and we raised money for school as well.
73Today in PE, year 2 had to listen to music and learn to move to to it like safari animals. They needed to crawl like lions etc. They came up with some of the their own ideas. Well done.
71This week is UK parliament week and today we watched a short video about how parliament works. We discussed about how laws are made and the process before it gets passed. We then took a virtual tour of Westminster and coloured some diagrams of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
127Today we had a painting session in Art and Craft Club. We were painting autumn and winter scenes on a notebook, which the children can give as a gift to someone. The children really enjoyed painting with cotton buds to create leaves!
116Today, we talked about how to be safe while crossing the road. We discussed about Stop, Look and Listen.
133Year 2 have a loved learning about Christopher Columbus this half term. Today, we looked at the impact that Columbus made on the spread of religion, the improvements of shipping and the trading of foods. We were able to work in pairs to recall our facts.
151Today, we discussed about how to be an upstander -someone who does not tolerate bullying. We then designed an Anti-bullying superhero! Look at their lovely designs.
155Today, we had a lovely visit from Buddy and a lady from NSPCC. We discussed how we can speak up if something is wrong and who are the safe adults to talk to.
143Today we launched Anti-bullying week by participating in odd sock day. We attended an assembly and Miss Summers introduced our theme for this year’s anti-bullying week, which is ‘Power for good’. Then we had fun learning the Andy and the Odd socks song called ‘Power for good’.
203Today, we were demonstrating how we can add 2 two digit numbers using various methods, like column and using pictorial representation. Everyone really enjoyed doing this today and absolutely smashed it!
140Someone in our class decided to dress up as the Night Gardener. I wonder who it is? He did a great job sneaking around without anyone seeing him cutting the trees!
145Today, we created a collage showing how each one of us is unique and that God loves us all. We learned how God made us all different and we each have varied personalities.
148Today, we had a lovely time in our school garden, looking at the vibrant features of God’s creation and His beautiful creatures which he made. We looked at the fish and their stripes, we looked at the delicate features on leaves and we talked about how each plant is so unique.
144Today, we used drama to act out the various stages of Baptism. We had godParents/Carers, water, a priest and a congregation.
The children were able to retell the various aspects of a baptism ceremony.
141Today, we were making two digit numbers and discovering how many tens and how many ones were in each number. We were able to make these using base ten.
145Today, we used drama to retell the story of The Night Gardener. Some of us were trees, another person was William and some of us were people from Grimlock Lane. This will help us write lovely story setting descriptions.
144Today we had a fantastic street party at lunch time. We made some VE Day crowns and we flew our paper Spitfires.
850This week we had a ‘no pen’ day, we still completed all our lessons and had some fun along the way! We learned about telling the time, about the Stone Age and we planted some pea seeds.
892Today, we had an Easter assembly, an Easter Bonnet parade and an Easter Concert! Wow, what a busy day, but we had lots of fun!

Today in geography we have studied an ordnance survey map to find different locations within our city, looked at the different symbols and began to plan a route from our school into the city centre.
