Today, Uear 2 listened to the story of the paralysed man. Afterwards we acted out the story and we were able to retell it really well.

Today, the whole school had a fabulous opportunity to listen to a special concert by the local ukulele group called the Dingle Ukes. They played folk songs, older pop songs and locally written songs. The children had a fantastic time listening, clapping and singing along with the music. Thank you to Wheel Meet Again group and Dingle Ukes for coming along.

Look at the lovely clay elephant this little learner made today. Fantastic details on the creation with tusks and a long trunk. He chose the colours and painted his sculpture by himself. Great work!

In music we have been studying some British traditional songs. Today we were listening to ‘The Lark Ascending’ by Ralph Vaughan Williams. We listened to hear the birds and the crashing waves and other aspects of the piece of music was discussed. We really enjoyed listening to the music.

Today in Year 2, we played a game using coins with a partner. One partner had to tell the other what the value of the coin was and how they could make this value using other coins, for example, 10p could be made using 5 2pences.

Today, Year 2 were learning to sing some songs from around the UK. They were singing Lavender Blue, London Bridge is falling down and My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean. We then played the game of London Bridge while singing the song.

This afternoon, the children in Poppy class, who had over 97% attendance, got to throw snowballs at poor Father Christmas, I think he needs to have a good rest tonight!

What a lovely surprise we got today when Father Christmas came to our class! He showed us on a map where he lived, we got our photos taken with him, we sang to him about his favourite reindeer Rudolph and he gave us lovely gifts.

This afternoon we had a visit from Coverdale puppets and they performed their Christmas show called ‘Angel delight’. We found it funny and enjoyed seeing all the different puppets. We even had a little boogie to some fun music and songs throughout.

08.12.25 – RHSE – Importance of good hygiene.

08-12-2025

Today Poppy Class discussed about what good hygiene is. We conducted an experiment. We covered our hands with fake germs and then touched different surfaces in class. We were then able to see how these germs can be transported throughout the whole school very easily. We used a light to shine to see the germs clearly. We then quickly washed our hands and then watched if all the germs had disappeared or not.

This week is UK parliament week and today we watched a short video about how parliament works. We discussed about how laws are made and the process before it gets passed. We then took a virtual tour of Westminster and coloured some diagrams of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Today we had a painting session in Art and Craft Club. We were painting autumn and winter scenes on a notebook, which the children can give as a gift to someone. The children really enjoyed painting with cotton buds to create leaves!

Today, we had a lovely time in our school garden, looking at the vibrant features of God’s creation and His beautiful creatures which he made. We looked at the fish and their stripes, we looked at the delicate features on leaves and we talked about how each plant is so unique.
